Rich Weiss—Chief Investment Officer
In addition to serving as the Chief Investment Officer of the Endowment, Rich has been an active member of MBEF and its Manhattan Wine Auction committee for over a decade. He is a senior portfolio manager, and manager of asset allocation for American Century Investments, a $150 billion investment management organization. Rich has been in the investment field for over 30 years, holding senior positions at City National Bank, Sanwa Bank California, PaineWebber and Mellon Bank. He is magna cum laude graduate of the Wharton Business School and the University of Chicago. Rich and his wife, Virginia, have three girls Chloe, Caroline and Carmen (MCHS).
Geoff Bremer
Geoff Bremer is a Certified Public Accountant heading his own firm, G.M. Bremer & Associates. He served for many years on MBEF’s board prior to joining the MBEF Endowment Board. Geoff received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA and a master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University. He is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, a past member of its board of directors and a Past President of its 10,000-member Los Angeles Chapter. He is also Past Chair of the Los Angeles Chapter Taxation Committee and a member of the Chapter’s Estate Planning Committee. He is also a Rotarian. Geoff represents both individuals and businesses, with a focus on estate and income tax planning matters. In addition, he has had considerable experience structur¬ing business transactions, including sales, acquisitions, and both taxable and nontaxable mergers. He and his wife Chris have two children who have attended MBUSD schools.
Mike Duckworth
Mike directs his charitable efforts to programs involving youth development, primarily in education and youth sports. Professionally, Mike is a Managing Director in the J.P. Morgan Private Bank where he advises individuals and families on strategies to preserve, protect and build wealth. Mike has spent most of his career in investment management, organizational leadership and finance. He has been the COO of a multi-billion-dollar family office, CEO of both a $2.5B public company and a not-for-profit in higher education, a partner in a $3.5B private equity firm and has held several board positions. Mike began his career in investment banking at Bankers Trust, and later Merrill Lynch, where he advised clients on debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions. Mike earned his MBA from the Anderson School of Management and graduated magna cum laude from UCLA. He and his wife Sherolyn have two daughters, Maddie (Alumni) and Jessie (Alumni).
Mitch Ozawa
A Senior Vice President and Senior Client Manager for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Mitch serves as the bank’s primary relationship manager (for-profit and not-for-profit) healthcare entities located in Southern California. Mitch has a BS in Business Administration (Finance) from California State University Long Beach and an MBA from USC. Mitch has served on the MBEF Board since 2009. Mitch also serves on the Board of Trustees for Rolling Hills Prep, served on the Meadows PTA for 7 years, the Meadows School Site Council from 2007-2009, and served on the Advisory Board for the Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk from 2010-2012. He and his wife Ann have three children, Hayden (MCHS grad), Camryn (RHP grad) and Chasen (MCHS grad).
Jeri Vick
Jeri Vick currently stays home with her two children, Ben and Lauren. She spends much of her time volunteering in a variety of roles within the school district as well as serving as a data consultant for MBUSD. Prior to working at home with her children, she worked at PIMCO, a large fixed-income asset management company based in Newport Beach, CA. As an investment professional at PIMCO, she was responsible for client relationships totaling $10 billion in assets under management. She also worked with a small team of professionals to develop PIMCO’s emerging market and diversified income businesses. Prior to joining PIMCO, she was employed by Kidder, Peabody & Co. in Fixed Income Research and by Citigroup in risk management with a focus on equity and commodity derivatives. Jeri earned her BA from Boston University with a dual major in International Relations and Economics and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
